Describing Oliver from Call Me By Your Name

By Joana Galiana

I remember him as if it was the first day. I remember him the way I remember every talk, every glance, every careless look of his. I remember how he used to sit, attractive, sporty, interesting. How he used to have long conversations with my father and their friends, the way he seemed so interested, and even though the topic wasn’t that appealing to him, he always wanted to show that he liked it, that he cared. He was so gentleman with everyone… I liked him. I still like him.

He was tall, sporty, well-built, but not the gym type. He was strong and hot but natural hot, even his smile was hot. He had a very nice shape and he was the kind of person that you just need one look to never forget him again. He was, without any doubt, unforgettable. His always confident look. His black sunglasses. His always billowy shirt with rolled-up sleeves. His red, blue, green, or yellow swimsuit, that invariably seemed to match with his mood. He was really special. He still is.

But above all that, I loved him for his indecipherable sarcasm. His ability to know how to talk in any situation. His unexpected way of loving me. Those suddenly affectionate moments. His brazen, self-important attitude. His weird way of making everyone love him. The way he treated everyone. Even being most of us favorite. That pure and lovely friendship with Vimini. She was pure and she made him a little bit purer.

That’s why I, even a thousand years later, I’ll love him. It’s always gonna be him.
